Excited to try out my Humminbird Helix this winter. Got the Helix 5 all rigged up and ready for the ice! With the gps, flasher mode and real time sonar, plus the charts I've made in the summer with auto chart live, this ought to be dynamite!

Spent a fun afternoon with friends on an impromptu rabbit hunt/brook trout fishing trip. Headed out close to home for a couple hours, and ended up a couple pan fryer brookies and 4 snowshoe hares for the crock pot!
Finally spent a solid day on the ice this past week, work, renos and a warm getaway have kept us busy most of the winter so far! Spent the day chasing lake trout, fishing was slow but ended up with a few fish. I got a couple lakers and a couple pike, and survived the -30 wind chill!Had a fun season, but relatively unproductive rut. I was lucky enough to harvest a healthy doe to fill the freezer, but hung my buck tag on the tree. With a new home and renos my time was slightly limited but regardless it was a weird fall. I saw minimal big buck activity throughout November, on properties that are usually crawling with daytime bucks. I actually had one shooter buck show in daykight the entire month of November, between 4 stands! I still had fun and saw deer, and spent some time with my wife in the blind during the late season, but no luck for either of us! The bucks are on the move! Not seeing alot of daylight big bucks yet but seeing plenty of activity. Bucks have been cruising, scraping and fighting at all my stands.
These two deer have been around a few years, and i love seeing the same bucks year after year and how they've changed. The one bigger one has grown substantially, I'm dying to lay my eyes on him! And the other 8 pt is a really cool looking buck, but aside from a nit of growth on his brow tines (in other pics) he looks almost the same, but a xool looking deer nonetheless. For both of these deer/photos the cameras are in the same spot for each years photos. Spent a great week out moose hunting with some friends and family. We made a drastic change this year, and instead of staying and hunting at our hint camp we ended up with an outfitter cow tag in a new unit. With the current tag status we were unlikely to draw a tag there so decided to try something new.
We had a great week, and didt ultimately get a moose but had alot of fun. And I was lucky enough to see 3 bulls, just had the wrong tag! With the new house, we decided we needed somethijg for plowing snow and hauling firewood.......may come in handy for other things too
My september has been slightly different than normal........have spent the month doing renos on our new house intead of hanging out in the stand with my bow and chasing spawning Chinooks.......
Corine and I headed to Nashville this summer, and did some fishing along the way. Found a hidden little largemouth pond, and spent a day with a guide for big stripers (which eluded us due to unseasonably high water). Had a blast and also spent 2 nights at the Nashville PBR and checked out a football game, great trip!
