We then setup the downriggers and trolled around for lake trout, and landed 8 solid lakers in a couple hours, with the biggest around 20#, some serious action! Only bad part of the day was that we couldn't get a lake trout small enough for the grill, bad problem!
Brought my dad out with me today, and headed out again chasing trout, looking for big brookies and lakers. We started pitching mighty mitch and jungle joe jigflies for Brook Trout, and got some beauties. We then setup the downriggers and trolled around for lake trout, and landed 8 solid lakers in a couple hours, with the biggest around 20#, some serious action! Only bad part of the day was that we couldn't get a lake trout small enough for the grill, bad problem!

Headed out with a friend this week to chase trout. Ended up catching one of the bigger brook trout I've caught, a 24.25" by 16" fish, it was a beast! Incredible country and some dandy trout.
While enroute to Nashville for a giant Country music festival, we met up with Chris Schaffer of Pautzke Bait Co in Tennessee, and spent a day paddling and fishing on the Caney Fork River, with Caney Fork Outdoors.
We loaded a few canoes and kayaks on the trailer, and we were dropped off on one of the prettiest pieces of water I've ever seen. Right from the launch, I was fishing, (and lost several trout before we had the canoes loaded). We spent the day paddling down the river, fishing as we went, and stopping along the way fishing whatever piece of water looked good to us. We were fishing exclusively with Pautzke Balls O' Fire (green, silver and gold label) with dynamite results. Fished below a tiny panfish float, these single eggs were irrestible to these stocked rainbow trout that filled this river. We floated for several miles downstream, catching trout throughout, seeing fish in nearly every pool we stopped at. We were eventually picked up at another access point downstream, finishing off a nearly effortless day on the water. http://www.pautzke.com https://caneyforkriverrunners.com |
