Spent a brisk morning in a field this morning with my bol looking for deer. It was a calm quiet morning and seems perfect but nothing was moving. Have had a lot of nocturnal activity on the cameras lately and not a lot of daytime movement. Also not many big bucks cruising through lately.

Spent another few mornings in the same stand, chasing one of my target bucks. Saw one buck one morning at about 60 yards on cover but he winded me sadly. Still waiting...... Went out early this morning, despite the nearly 60km/h winds and the -19C windchill. I sat in a nearby stand I've been huntIng alot this fall Argentina a couple nice bucks with the bow. Sat from about 730 til shortly after 10,, then snuck out of the stand for the Remembrance Day ceremony, then headed back to the stand around 1130. Stayed til about 230pm and finally had enough of the cold. Here are a couple pics of the bucks frequenting this stand: Got out bright and early and climbed up in one of my favorite treestands overlooking a small field. Had alot of excitement ad saw a few deer. Took a break from the archery stand I'd been spending most of my time in an sat with the rifle on the edge of a field. I started off the morning with some doe bleating, and within minutes of my first call had a decent 8pt come cruising out. He paused in front of my camera for awhile, worked a mock scrape I had made, and then cruised back and forth across the field, with his nose to the ground. he left after several minutes but I rattled a few minutes after he'd left and he came right back out for another look. I managed I get a photo of him through the scope, should have some good trail cam pics as well. Over the next couple hours I contined calling and rattling and had two more smaller bucks come out, one within about 15yds of my tree! Then late morning had a doe come out and feed for awhile; nearly took the opportunity to fill my additional doe tag but opted to wait and see if a buck followed her out, but they didnt. I sat right til dark with no more action. A little chilled but saw some deer and had a great day in the stand! Went to Nipigon area with some friends for four days of deer hunting this week. Not a lot of deer around but there are some real smasher bucks and also opportunity for additional tags in this area. This is the second time we've done this trip and stayed at the beautiful Quebec Lodge B&B in Red Rock. Found some deer activity and on our final morning finally some success. Spent an evening in the ground blind with my bow tonight. Corine came along to keep me company. Saw a doe in the brush but she didnt come into the open. Spent the last couple hours yesterday in the tree on a hay field. have had some decent bucks on the cam. Did some rattling and calling, saw a doe towards the end of the night, but no bucks. Seeing a big increase in buck activity at alot of my stands, good to see some rut acidity progressing! Been seeing plenty of scrapes and bucks moving on the trail cams. These bucks were all on the same cam in a two hour period yesterday morning! |
